Topanga Fire Recovery

EnergyTopanga, CA (2025)

Post-fire emergency rebuild in Topanga — a failed Tesla Powerwall replaced with a three-layer resilience stack built for wildfire country.

Full Energy Rebuild

After wildfires left this home without power for two weeks, the aging Tesla Powerwall was decommissioned and replaced entirely. We installed a 9KW rooftop solar array feeding a Point Guard Energy battery system, upgraded the panels to Span smart panels for intelligent load shedding, and added a Generac standby generator as the final failsafe.

Wildfire-Ready Design

The 40KWh battery system is housed in a custom stucco shed built 75 feet from the main structure — a deliberate safety buffer that keeps high-capacity lithium storage clear of the home during fire events. The Span panel handles the rest automatically, shedding non-critical loads to maximize battery runtime when the grid drops.

The new Point Guard Energy battery system paired with a Growatt inverter — housed in the on-site utility enclosure and engineered to outlast extended outages.

Generac standby generator installed as a backup power source

A Generac standby generator added as the last line of defense — ensuring the home stays powered even when solar production and battery reserves run low.
